About Us
Gurdwara Sahib Charlotte was established by The Sikh Heritage Society of Greater Charlotte – a community organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Sikh culture and values in the Charlotte area. It was founded in 2001 to provide a place of worship and community for Sikh families, initially meeting in homes before establishing the Gurdwara Sahib Charlotte in 2003.
Gurdwara Sahib Charlotte serve the vibrant spiritual Sikh community of Greater Charlotte. We believe in the teaching of Guru Nanak, the founder and First Guru of Sikhism, who taught that all humans are equal and gave us three core principles to live by:
Naam Japo: Remembering God at all times.
Kirat Karo: Earning an honest living without deceit.
Vand Chako: Sharing with others and helping those in need.
Sikhism teaches discipline in life. A Sikh’s journey follows continuous self-improvement with the Gurus grace. Sikhism is based on a belief of
One Omnipresent God.
ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ
One Universal Creator God. The Name Is Truth. Creative Being Personified. No Fear. No Hatred.
